Professor Roy Sembel
Professor Roy Sembel is an expert business, governance, and financial standards with a career that encompasses both academics and the private sector. He currently Chairs the Jakarta Futures Exchange (JFX) and is one of Indonesia’s experts in securities and derivatives transactions. Previously, from 2008-2010, Professor Sembel served as the Dean of the Business School and Director of Graduate Education at Pelita Harapan University (UPH) and during 2001-2006 was Director of the Finance and Investment MBA program at Bina Nusantara University.
Professor Sembel is Chairman of PT Mars Indonesia, a marketing and brand management consultancy, and Capital Price, a research center for financial markets and economics. Previously, during 2005-2007, Professor Sembel served as an Independent Commissioner and Head of the Risk Monitoring Committee at Bank Niaga, one of Indonesia’s most professional and well-known banks, and during 1998-2001, the period of the Asian Financial Crisis, as a Senior Associate Consultant for McKinsey & Co.
Professor Sembel is a member of the National Committee on Governance (KNKG) and is an editor for several prominent academic journals. He is a regular contributor to a wide variety of media and academic publications and has spoken at a variety of forums, both within Indonesia as well as internationally.
