Daniel W. Giles
Daniel Giles is the Director of Vriens & Partners’ Thailand office. Based in Bangkok Mr Giles helps clients design and implement effective government relations strategies across Southeast Asia with a specific focus on Thailand and Laos.
Mr Giles manages several region-wide client relationships for the firm and serves as a trusted advisor to government clients, private equity firms and numerous leading multinational companies with an industry coverage including financial services, oil & gas, FMCG and healthcare. In addition to direct client work, Mr Giles provides frequent briefings on the region’s political and economic developments to various chambers of commerce in both Thailand and Singapore and is quoted regularly in both the Thai and international media. He also sits on the cross-sectoral committee of the Europe-ASEAN Business Centre (EABC).
Prior to joining V&P Mr Giles held policy and corporate advisory positions in Singapore and London including that of Economic Analyst at the Korean Embassy in the UK. As senior aide to the Finance Attaché he helped articulate and promote Korean economic policy to the UK government and the institutions of the City of London.
Mr Giles holds a BA in politics and modern history from the University of Essex, one of the UK’s foremost institutions for politics research. He has also studied Thai politics and society at Thammasat University, Bangkok. Mr Giles speaks Thai.
