David Butcher and Associates

David Butcher is a former New Zealand Minister of Energy, Minister of Commerce, and Deputy Minister of Finance. Since his retirement from politics in 1990, Mr Butcher has worked as a consultant, advising clients in over 24 different countries, where his expertise in strategic business planning, corporate governance, privatisation, corporatisation, and regulation of network utilities, such as telecommunications companies and electricity, is often solicited. Mr Butcher is highly experienced in institutional development and state agencies reform, particularly in transport, electricity and telecommunications. As the minister, he oversaw the deregulation of New Zealand’s telecommunications sector and the privatization of several key industries.
