… Myanmar’s government has claimed its assaults are defensive in nature, following rebels’ refusal of a government demand that they allow supply convoys to reach an army base. This week, KIA officials said the government had used jets and helicopters to strike areas near its headquarters in Laiza, a city near the Chinese border.
